Pros and Cons of a Pole Building

Is my site properly prepared?

Timberline Buildings requires a level site to build upon. Ideally, your level site would allow 3 feet of working room on each side. For example, you will need a 36x46 level pad for a 30x40 pole building.

Do I need a building permit?

Most townships in our coverage area require permits to build. Almost every township requires a zoning permit at minimum. In some cases you may need to get a zoning permit plus a building permit. Check with your local township officials about this. Construction drawings for your building will be provided for FREE! If your township requires a P.E. Seal on the drawings we can provide that service for a fee of $500.00.

If you do not know who to contact at your township, please call us! We will do our best to point you in the right direction. It is a good idea to inform your township who you plan on using for your new pole building. Chances are we may have worked in your area before.

Prepare yourself

It is good to discuss your plans for the building with your Timberline Rep. One example of things to discuss with your rep would be, plans for insulating the building in the future. Be aware that most overhead doors being offered on the market are insulated at a mid-range R-Value. These doors are standard and work great in most applications. However, if you are planning on insulating the building you may consider upgrading to a higher R-Value. We would be happy to assist you with this decision. We also offer complete insulation packages installed in your new steel building.

How will I finance my project?

It is important to research your financing options prior to entering into an agreement with us for your project. We now offer financing through Admirals Bank. Please contact us for an application or more information. Most banks today offer very competitive rates on Home Equity Loans. Another source for financing is Lending Tree. Your Timberline Rep will ask you for a 25% deposit upon signing your agreement. An additional payment will be required upon delivery of the building and the final balance will be due at the completion of the project.

Note: In some cases we would accept a $500.00 "drawing" deposit which allows us to release drawings and other information to you for obtaining your permit.

Not all quotes are created equal!

Be aware of this when making your decisions. Your Timberline quote might not be the lowest dollar amount. Make sure there are no hidden costs when comparing quotes. Some common hidden costs that we normally include in a standard quote are:

  • 12" Eaves
  • Ridgevent
  • Trash Removal
  • Dutch Corners on Overhead Doors
  • Plus more...ask your Timberline Rep TODAY!

Most of our competitors leave these items out unless you specifically ask for them. Be advised that we can delete these items to help lower the cost of your post frame building.
